Local Government representatives this week delivered strong messages to Basin Ministers on behalf of their communities across southern NSW and northern Victoria that irrigation communities have met their side of the bargain and now enough is enough.
At a Stakeholder event on Monday evening in advance of the crucial Ministerial Council meeting in Albury on Tuesday, representatives from the Riverina and Murray Regional Organisation of Councils in NSW (RAMROC) and the Murray River Group of Councils (MRGC) in Victoria urged Ministers to acknowledge the efforts that the Murray region has put in to deliver water for the environment across the Basin.
