MRGC Welcomes Cr Dan Straub as the 2025 Chair

The Murray River Group of Councils welcomed new Chair Councillor Dan Straub, the Mayor of Loddon Shire as its new Chair for 2025 at its meeting in Echuca on 5 December. Cr Straub was reelected as Mayor of Loddon Shire in November and has served twice before on the Murray River Group.

“I am looking forward to Chairing the Group and continuing the good work that Councillor Stanton did this year” said Cr Straub. “Our key regional issues continue to revolve around water and the Basin Plan and working to make sure that it delivers for the environment and for our irrigators as well as increasing the supply of housing options for all in our fantastic region.

We are also advocating to the Commonwealth and State to make sure that our region, which is where the energy transition is actually happening, doesn’t miss out on investment and the benefits. I look forward to working with my fellow Mayors to make sure that the voices of our region are heard by decision makers in Canberra and Spring Street.
